Playground in Contrast

According to Russian psychologist Lev Vygotsky, “In play a child always behaves beyond his average age, above his daily behavior. In play it is as though he were a head taller than himself.”  So keep on dreaming, discovering and imagining my darlings and I will continue to provide opportunities for you to play, learn and grow.

Our Oscar viewing party

Last night a small group of family and friends gathered at our home to celebrate the 84th Annual Academy Awards.  We teared up as Octavia Spencer won Best Supporting Actress for The Help, we cheered as Christopher Plummer won Best Supporting Actor for Beginners (Vive le Canada), and we nodded approval when Midnight in Paris won for best original screenplayWe critiqued the fashions, showed our concerns about how thin Angelina looked, worried about J-Lo popping out of that dress (seems like those concerns were valid) and decided as a group that we just had to see The Artist and find out first hand what all the buzz was about.  We had a fabulous time!  Here are some pictures of our Oscar viewing party.  We had such a great time I can’t help but pencil it in for next year…  same Oscar time, same Oscar channel.

Innocence & Authenticity

This morning as I watched my toddlers, I was moved to capture them on film. Life moves so fast and kids grow up so quickly that I am challenging myself to photograph my babies at least once a week for the next while. I want to soak up every nuance of who they are, (tired, smiling, sleepy, silly, cranky, jumping for joy).   I want to capture them as they are – their innocence and authenticity.  Using the medium of photography, I ultimately want this series to be a love letter to my precious children.
