3 Summertime Self-care tips

1.) Plan a staycation! There are so many fantastic things to do locally in the summer. Wherever you are, grab your family, put them in the car and go do something fun together. Laugh, take pictures, make memories. The important thing is that you’re taking the time to do something to fill your cup. At a loss for where to begin? Try and attend any summer festivals with music, food and fun — those are three simple ways that are good for nurturing the soul.

2.) Spend time near water! There’s something about being by a body of water. Bring a good book, sit and allow your cares to drift away. There’s something about the sound of moving water that’s thoroughly soothing to the soul.

3.) Savour fresh produce! In the summertime, many delicious fruits and vegetables are in season, so challenge yourself to try a new fruit or veggie every single week! You’ll enjoy the yummy goodness of seasonal produce and your body will absolutely love it.

Vegas travel tips

Welcome-to-Las-Vegas-Sign

I’m heading to Vegas for an Arbonne Global Training Conference and since it’s going to be my first time there, I posted on Facebook asking for Vegas travel tips.  Well my FB friends didn’t disappoint!  Here are some of the top tips from my Truly Epic Facebook friends.

Map it.  Before leaving home, check out the area where you’ll be staying using an Ariel view.  Get a sense of the layout.  Screen save or print a map of the area.  If you’re not certain how to do this.  Go to Google maps, plug in the address, on the bottom right hand corner click on show imagery, click on earth and then zoom in.  It’s an easy peasy way of getting you familiar with your destination, that helps you recognize some of the landmarks on your trip, before you even leave home.

Measure it.  Figure out how to get to restaurants like those at the Paris Hotel or local sites like Fairmount Street downtown, that you’ll want to visit.  Measure the distance to see what the best way of getting around is.  Should you walk it, take a shuttle, taxi, uber or rent a car.  If you measure some of these distances before you leave home, you can have a plan of action in place to help you make the best choices in terms of time and money.

MEC it.  Travel packs are lifesavers.  Whether you get the ones from MEC or somewhere else, this is a surefire way of optimizing the space in your luggage.  I love to organize my outfits before hand so this is also a good way of separating and cataloguing what I’m bringing with me.

Minimize it.  Your expenses that is lol.  Personally, I’m not a coupon person although I wish I was.  I have friends who make ‘couponing’ look like an active sport but I’ve never been able to figure out how to make it work for me.  That being said, one of my FB friends suggested picking up a couple coupons at the airport when we arrive in Vegas.  I might get some cool deals that I wouldn’t have otherwise.

Well epic readers, you know I wouldn’t take off without leaving you with something helpful.  If you are travelling to a conference and would like some help figuring out what to pack.  Here’s my handy dandy checklist that takes the guess work out of getting geared up for a conference.  Hope it’s helpful to you: Conference Travel Checklist!

Thanks to Tracy, Crystal, Cate, Tammy, Jewel, Grigoris, Dalia, Shelley and everyone else who weighed in on Facebook and Messenger for your great tips.  I now feel totally prepared for this truly epic adventure!

March Break Fun!

What a whirlwind of a week!  Our little family had a blast visiting the ROM, doing fun crafts and building Lego’s, visiting the library, baking desserts for the volunteers at Habitat for Humanity, meeting up with a cousin to go to the Ontario Science Centre and making care packages for teenaged girls in need at our church’s family night.  We packed a lot of stuff into our March Break staycation but had a blast doing each and every one of them!  I love that my kiddies are always up for an epic adventure!  How did you spend March Break?

Hello

As an extreme cold weather alert is being issued in my city today, I’m appreciating the sounds of the islands in this sweet rendition of Adele’s ‘Hello’.  Hope you’re staying warm wherever you are and enjoying this tune too!
