What I love about the crock pot is the utter simplicity of cooking in it. You can throw in the ingredients , add some spices and call it a day. Come back in a few hours to your house smelling amazing, and a wonderfully delicious home cooked meal is ready for your family. The ‘recipe’ for my crock pot soup is as follows:
- Brown any kind of meat you have in the freezer
- Throw in any veggies you have
- Put in some lentils from the pantry
- Add water or stock
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Leave it alone, then come back hours later to…
- Enjoy a yummy soup with your family
Do you like crock pot cooking, if so, what’s your favourite dish to cook in the crock pot?
If it EVER cools down here in Southern Calif. I might try this. Though cooking soup in a crock pot sounds cooler than cooking it on the stove.
I just posted my “recipe” for roasted chicken in a crock pot today – season it with whatever you feel like seasoning it with (taco mix, garlic and Italian herbs, garlic and ginger, etc.) put it in the crock pot and cook it until it is done – 4-6 hours on low depending on if you want it falling off the bone or not. Serve in tortillas, over rice or noodles. Make gravy with the juices if desired (or freeze the juices to make gravy another time, waste not want not).

Roasted crock pot chicken, that sounds delicious Audrey!
This looks like something that even I can make and low in sodium. My husband loves soup but I thought that I couldn’t really make it. Thanks for sharing. Thinking of you.
Besos, Sarah
This is super easy Sarah. I get the kids to help throw in the ingredients sometimes and they get so proud of themselves that they tend to brag to their dad that they made supper. 🙂
Yum! I really have not done the soup thing in my crock-pot, but I think I will try it now.
Thanks for sharing!
