One of the most wonderful things about living in a city like Toronto is it’s unique diversity of people. ย From gorgeous kinky fros, to elegantly slanted eyes, to beautiful brown skin; to remarkable red locks. ย We come from all reaches of the globe to form a city, a neighbourhood, a community, friendships; family. ย Our bonds are forged of choice, the choice to attend each others cultural festivals, eat each others foods and listen to each others music. ย As I raise my children in this place that offers a unique opportunity for connectedness, I will encourage them to appreciate the diversity in themselves and also in those around them.

“It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.” Maya Angelou

One of my friends is travelling through india and the photos of the small towns and the people he is uploading is amazing (he is also an aspiring photographer so he has a knack for getting great shots too). i wish i could see what he is seeing
I am currently hosting a blog hop over at my blog

Your friend is SO lucky Alex. I’m planning on taking my little family to Asia one day when the kids get older and can appreciate it. Is your friend travelling by himself or with his family?
Beautifully said and so important too- thanks for shining this light! If you’d like to link up on the Photo Friday Blog Hop- you are welcome to add this or any other favorite post.. It’s up all weekend. Enjoy! Cheers!

Diversity is definitely beautiful!
I wholeheartedly agree Emily!
I love the Maya Angelou quote and the pictures too!
Thanks Rosey, that’s one of my favourite quotes from Ms. Angelou!
very inspiring, those children eyes are full of dreams.
You’ve hit the nail on the head Denpaul, the pictures are so beautiful because their eyes are still full of dreams.
Certainly a collection of people. Just gorgeous. I love the photo of the children in clogs. Gorgeous x
Thanks Tahlia, the clogs remind me of the ones we brought back from Holland. My daughter is always clomping around in them, she calls them her dress up shoes.
Your photos are exquisite. I love the children in their custom attire. Their face are so beautiful and warm. Please stop by blog to add your photos to my linky on my blog so your beautiful photos can be shared with others.
Thanks for the invite Lena, I’ll drop over and link up right now!
What lovely children! If only we all stayed this beautiful, the world might be more at peace.
I completely agree Eric!
Exposing our children to the world around them is one of the many reasons we travel so much. I love sharing with them my love of new foods, languages and cultures. It is also opening their eyes to a world larger than the one in their backyard.
Keryn, you just put in writing our family values towards travel. There are special places in the world that hubby and I just knew we wanted to share with our kids. We can’t wait to watch them run around the gardens of Versailles, or ride a camel in Morocco and haggle with the locals. Until then, we do our best to expose them to every cultural festival we can in Toronto. I can’t wait to read more about your travels with your kiddies.
I agree! seeing how different people are makes us all realize how the same we are.
So true Annmarie, and I really enjoy discovering those commonalities! ๐
Like beatuiful flowers adorning life’s garden.
Poetic and true Sukhmandir! ๐

What beautiful pictures. I would love to visit Toronto with my family!
You’d love Toronto Jennifer! Btw, how did your crazy weekend go?
Toronto is defo on my places to explore list! I love the diversity of Edmonton too, everyone is welcome and celebrated, it’s very refreshingto see.
Edmonton is on my list of places around the country to take my kids. The only place I’ve seen in Alberta so far is Chinook and it didn’t do the province justice, so it’s good to have an endorsement of Edmonton! Let me know when you’re coming to T.O, I’ll send you a list of ‘must see’ places to visit that your kids would enjoy! ๐
