As many of you know, my three year old starts kindergarten in September. She’s ecstatic about going to school, however we’re apprehensive about this big transition for our little girl. So when my friend Shy sent me an email about a ‘preparing your child for junior kindergarten’ workshop, hubby and I signed up right away.
The workshop was offered by Cherrie from NuBaby. She did a wonderful job giving us lots of information, tips and helping to ease our fears. She was so awesome that I did’t want to hoard the info for myself but had to find a way to share it with you too. So please check back in a few weeks for Cherrie’s top 5 tips for ‘preparing your child for junior kindergarten’.
The workshop was hosted by a local Toronto parent and tot hot spot called Playful Grounds. The owners are Tera and Davina. Davina was manning the shop when we arrived and she made us feel completely welcome. The other parents hanging out there were super friendly, there were lots of toys for kids to play with and take it from me, the food was really great! There was a good variety of different foods and drinks on the menu, including vegan muffins and cupcakes. On the main menu there were chicken pesto or vegetable paninis, Bagel and Lox (locally cured salmon), Quinoa salad marinated with cucumber, tomato and mint along with hand bagged teas, specialty coffees and even alcohol. From the mini menu, your kiddies can enjoy a cheese pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches with apple slices or nutella and banana sandwiches and they can add a Kiju Juice Box to their meal which comes in a variety of flavours. The presentation of the meals was also impeccable.
Let me ask you this, where else in the city can you walk into a cafe, park your stroller, go to a free informational workshop, enjoy a great tasting brunch with your family, have a pleasant chat with the other patrons and hang out with your hubby while your kids play independently? The answer is, only at Playful Grounds.
When we were leaving, my three year old asked, “Wow mommy, that was fun! When can we go back again?” Need I say more? Playful Grounds was a huge hit with our entire family and we’re sure it will be a huge hit with yours too!
