JDs 1st Birthday Party

So my baby has turned one year old! He’s now walking, waving and clapping. He can say mama, dada and a few other words, including his special variation of his big sister’s name. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t really been able to put as much planning into his birthday party as I’ve done with Brie’s. That being said, his party still rocked. We had it on Father’s Day and we had a great turn out of friends and family.

I chose a Sesame Street theme and as you can tell by the pictures, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. We had Count von Count’s Mac ‘n Cheese, Pop goes the Grover (pop station), chocolate Sesame Street characters on a stick, Bert and Ernie’s Juice Box Lounge, Oscar’s Garbage Pail Snacks (little cups at a station where you could fill them with a trail mix of gold fish, Cheerios, raisins). My girlfriend Laura brought an appetizer called Big Bird’s Nest which was a Chinese noodles and marshmallow melt topped with Smarties. My piece de resistance, was my Oscar the Grouch Punch, which was made with a couple bottles of Arthurs Green Energy drink and Ginger ale – definitely a new concoction for me but it was a huge hit. The party favour was a bucket and sand toys set. We provided foam letters so the kids and their parents could take a time out from the party, go inside to the activity table and apply the kid’s name to their chosen bucket.

My friend Sarah brought a picture frame (with a special scripture verse) that everyone was able to sign and leave blessings for JD. My little sister Alison had loads of fun games and prizes for the kids. The day was sunny and bright with a dazzling blue sky; perfect weather for the pool. What can I say reader, except it was a wonderful way to transition my little baby boy from an infant to a toddler.
