Sitting here blogging and feeling thankful that I can work from home running my two businesses, volunteer with causes that are dear to my heart and greet my kids at the school bus everyday with a huge smile and wide open arms. I’m taking a mindful moment and savouring the fact that I’m loving this life.
This past weekend, I got together with some amazing friends and did a fabulous Sprint into Style event. We ate delicious food, networked, laughed a lot and overall had an absolute blast!
My friend Annika from The Stylish Reid gave us her top 5 fashion tips for spring. My friend Katherine O’neil, National Vice President for Arbonne International showcased the amazing new products (like the Genius Ultra ultrasound facial tool) that were launched at our annual conference in Vegas; and my friend Daneille Mattis from Daneille Mattis Makeup Artistry did a great makeup tutorial on our gorgeous model Min.
We had such a fantastic time that I couldn’t help but wonder? Why don’t we do this more often? Why don’t we get together with our friends salon style and have fun while we learn something new? In the past, that’s how music styles were formed, art was innovated and philosophical ideas were created. So why not step away from our computers and smart phones (at least a bit), and get together with our friends to celebrate where we are on our journey and what we’re excited and dreaming about doing in our future. I’m going try to do this more, how about you?
I’m heading to Vegas for an Arbonne Global Training Conference and since it’s going to be my first time there, I posted on Facebook asking for Vegas travel tips. Well my FB friends didn’t disappoint! Here are some of the top tips from my Truly Epic Facebook friends.
Map it. Before leaving home, check out the area where you’ll be staying using an Ariel view. Get a sense of the layout. Screen save or print a map of the area. If you’re not certain how to do this. Go to Google maps, plug in the address, on the bottom right hand corner click on show imagery, click on earth and then zoom in. It’s an easy peasy way of getting you familiar with your destination, that helps you recognize some of the landmarks on your trip, before you even leave home.
Measure it. Figure out how to get to restaurants like those at the Paris Hotel or local sites like Fairmount Street downtown, that you’ll want to visit. Measure the distance to see what the best way of getting around is. Should you walk it, take a shuttle, taxi, uber or rent a car. If you measure some of these distances before you leave home, you can have a plan of action in place to help you make the best choices in terms of time and money.
MEC it. Travel packs are lifesavers. Whether you get the ones from MEC or somewhere else, this is a surefire way of optimizing the space in your luggage. I love to organize my outfits before hand so this is also a good way of separating and cataloguing what I’m bringing with me.
Minimize it. Your expenses that is lol. Personally, I’m not a coupon person although I wish I was. I have friends who make ‘couponing’ look like an active sport but I’ve never been able to figure out how to make it work for me. That being said, one of my FB friends suggested picking up a couple coupons at the airport when we arrive in Vegas. I might get some cool deals that I wouldn’t have otherwise.
Well epic readers, you know I wouldn’t take off without leaving you with something helpful. If you are travelling to a conference and would like some help figuring out what to pack. Here’s my handy dandy checklist that takes the guess work out of getting geared up for a conference. Hope it’s helpful to you: Conference Travel Checklist!

What a whirlwind of a week! Our little family had a blast visiting the ROM, doing fun crafts and building Lego’s, visiting the library, baking desserts for the volunteers at Habitat for Humanity, meeting up with a cousin to go to the Ontario Science Centre and making care packages for teenaged girls in need at our church’s family night. We packed a lot of stuff into our March Break staycation but had a blast doing each and every one of them! I love that my kiddies are always up for an epic adventure! How did you spend March Break?
